WELCOME TO GARY WOLFSTONE'S BLOG 8 ~ Nordea Bank ~ Helsinki
Nordea Bank is actually a Swedish bank, but it has several branches in Finland. Below is the lobby of the downtown Helsinki branch of Nordea Bank.
All bank customers take a queue number and wait an average time of 10 minutes to visit face-to-face with a young executive at a private desk. Customers who are waiting for a teller, wait an average of 3 to 5 minutes. Nordea also serves complimentary espresso coffee, cappuccino or hot chocolate. My unfinished hot chocolate and queue ticket are pictured at the lower right.
Nordea publishes three exchange rates each day on its web site for incoming wire transfers. In addition, the bank charges the customer six Euros for incoming deposits. Safe deposit boxes are available and located in the basement.
Thus far, I have found no shoe shine stands in Helsinki; however, a large power shoe shine machine with alternate buffers is located near the exit to Nordea Bank. It is a self-service unit, and I never leave without hitting my leather shoes. I miss the shoe shine stand in the basement of Nordstroms in Seattle.
